With bare feet I played and walked on the wooden floors of my childhood. I felt how an endless splinter perforated the sole of my foot. Dense centers arose red and violet, with the almost black stain of forbidden access. Nightgowned, my mother sat next to me and pricked me, dragging the splinter out with the point of a needle. The stain faded like a bruise made of dust and my foot bled the blood that now was my mother’s hands with a gold sparkling needle. My mother—bright wound that left the trace of her hands on my feet. *
