Queering materiality and language, Pablo Vindel reimagines presence, absence, and belonging—crafting spaces of and for transformation.
Slime + Shadow embody breath and mouth in their narrowing, seemingly peaceful shapes. These forms act as periscopic sight-wideners, inviting reflection on the psychological space between what we perceive and what we cannot. The mirrored surface of Slime reflects its surroundings, emphasizing that tension, while Shadow, with its clear glass composition and red hue, invites contemplation of what lingers in view. Together, envisioned as jeweled ‘tools,’ these sculptures function as a reminder of how memory and loss are intricately bound in the material world.
